I think that there are no mistakes in the Universe. I think that everything that happens is supposed to happen due simply to the fact that it happens. All of the instances that occur in our lives, even those we might consider mistakes or bad fortune, are designed to help us become the people we are capable of being. For every one of those moments beckons for a purpose to be fulfilled, allowing us in any and every moment the opportunity to become the answer that the world is waiting for.
It is in those moments, when we rise to answer the call of the Universe and meet the simple destiny of now, that we bring value to who we are. No longer merely spectators as life passes us by, when we become true participants in what life has to offer us, we become transformed into the development of something greater than ourselves. We become part of a community. We become co-creators in the world we truly long for.
I think that St. Francis may have most eloquently set the intention for those seeking to live the life they’ve imagined. By simply being what the world needs in those times that what it needs may not be coming from any other source, we become the hands of God. Realizing that we are here to serve one another, we become the Yin to the Yang of the Universe.
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury,pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen
